Compliments to the WSJ for publishing this piece
As to our comment:
First: Unquestioned, unquestionable, American overwhelming armed superiority is
the best guarantee for world peace. It's ancient wisdom that power does not
invite aggression, weaknes does.
Second: Theoretically, one can conceive weapons much more effective in
defeating an enemy, and inflicting less collateral damage, than the nuclear
ones. It's in our national interest to allocate generous funding for R&D in that
direction.
Third: Our do-gooders-and we have too many- think of dealing with men as they
should be, not as they are.
Fourth: It's useful to remember that irrationality is, has always been, an
important factor in world affairs. Though the transit from the brute to the
rational is admirable, we are still close to our striving ancestor.
