To Whom It May Concern II
Justice, Patriotism, and Loyalty in United States are
values which meanings change with the government in power understanding of those
values, and changes the understanding of those values in the Cubans exiled here,
although not to all Cubans.
I remember when we first arrived here in the 60's, we were political refugees,
and Fidel Castro's dictatorship was to be overthrown by force, because in
dictatorships there are no elections and only force can create a change. Cubans
who thought this way were United States "Assets" and the United States
government took for its own that war against Fidel Castro, since they were the
paladins of Justice, Liberty, and loyalty. This was the understanding in that
era. Then, the government changed, and the understanding of those values
changed, and the ridiculous catastrophe of Bay of Pigs, and the humiliating
exchange of Cuban prisoners for tractors, and medicines, and the assassination
of President John F. Kennedy, and his brother, Robert Kennedy followed. The
next change of government, changed understanding of values again. It came with
the "Marieliltos", that although invited to come by President Carter, were seen
as 3d class citizens. That same government stops interven!
ing in what they called "Counterrevolutions," began to call those of us that
fought against Fidel Castro and his allies, "Freedom fighters," encourage the
people of the United States to donate money to our causes, and kept calling
arriving Cubans "Political refugees," but with many reservations. In that
order the following United States governments continued too reneged to the
understanding of Justice, Loyalty, and Patriotism, accordingly to the new
challenges presented to them. Now that the new challenge is a religious war
that has been able to hit inside this nation, and threatens with continuing to
do so, the new understanding of Loyalty, Patriotism, and freedom is a
nationalist one: Cubans are "Terrorists" and "Immigrants," the government of
Fidel Castro will become democratic with time, and while the United States
government fights against the Mussulmen of the world (All Mussulman may not be
terrorists, but all terrorists are Mussulman ) Cubans are to remain in Cuba!
, and those already here stay put or be incarcerated. It is understan
dable that faced with this new threat, the United States choose to understand
those values as it chooses. But I believe those values are and should be always
understood in the same manner by all humanity. If it is not so, is because
they are corrupted by a lack of empathy and much avarice. This flip flopping
is the very source of today's problems for United States.
Fidel Castro is still a dictator to be overthrown by force, Cubans still flee
that political dictatorship, it is our duty as Cubans to respond when the
motherland needs us , and the government of the United States with England and
Israel as its only true allies continue to backpedal its values, and goes
forward in aggression to defend, now, its own national security.
